ABOUT US
Our
Purpose, History and Mission
A community foundation is a non-profit organization founded exclusively
for the benefit of the community and its people. The principal benefit
of a community foundation is to provide flexibility to respond to the
current needs and opportunities of our community. A community foundation
is constantly aware of changing conditions and needs in the community
and alters the directions of its giving accordingly. Through a Foundation,
your gifts can make a lasting impact for generations to come.
The York
Community Foundation was founded and incorporated in 1984. The Foundation
received
501 ©3 tax exempt status in 1985. Because
the York Community Foundation is recognized as a public charity,
donations may be tax deductible. It is organized for charitable,
religious, educational
and scientific purposes. The York Community Foundation is structured
to receive gifts of any size. Charitable gifts are used to fund
grants and scholarships.
Funds at the York Community Foundation are managed by the Cornerstone
Trust Company and the York State Bank Trust Company in York. They provide
independent and professional management of funds held at the Foundation.
Mission Statement
The mission of the York Community Foundation is to utilize charitable
funds to strengthen and improve the community for the benefit of all
its citizens.
